Matthew 9:27–34Scripture
Matthew chapter 9 27-34. While you turn there, I will say this. It is very easy when you open Scripture for your eyes to go to the wrong character of the story.
To have your heart and your mind fixated on things that we should not. And what influences your heart and your thinking and your Bible study often is what you trust in the most.
The character we lift off the pages and we elevate to its highest point often becomes the character that we trust in the most. It is amazing because like in this story, we could fixate or fix our gaze on the blind men. We can consider how we're like them.
We can consider our behaviors. We consider we can consider how they function versus how we function. I'm not saying it has zero place to in our consideration, but the main character of this story are not the blind men, nor are they the demon-possessed man who's mute.
There is a main character of the story which we very easily don't focus on. So as we read this today, understand that Jesus is the main character of the story.
He's the main character. Verse 27 says, "and Jesus and as Jesus passed on from there, two blind men followed him, crying aloud, have mercy on us, son of David."
Introduction
He was not necessarily referring to the family tree there. Son of David was a common saying that meant this is the Messiah. He was long prophesied about. Son of David is has a direct correlation to the fact that Jesus is in fact who he was prophesied to be the Messiah, the savior of the world. That's important. But even I believe more important than that is this statement that they say have mercy on us.
Oh, that's powerful, guys. This reveals the heart of an individual that stands in poverty. Yes. Now in a nation that is not very povertystricken, it becomes hard for us to approach God this way.
Difficult in fact for us to come to him as a beggar needing mercy. We stand on our own valition in many things in life.
We attack our issues in life with our intellect, our bank account, our wit, our strength.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 3:12
But you cannot enter and approach the Lord this way. You must come to him as a beggar or you're coming to him is not good at all. We see other characters here that come to him differently than a beggar and we see how he responds to them. When he entered the house, the blind man came to him and Jesus said to them, "do you believe that I'm able to do this?"
They said to him, "Yes, Lord." Then he touched their eyes, saying, "according to your faith, be it done to you." Oh, people get so lost with that statement. Entire theological movements are based on this statement. We move people into a worksbased theology with this statement. If you believe enough, you'll have enough. That is not the point of this text.
Let us not turn the act of God and his mercy into the strength of men and their faith.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 4:21
Let us not make the hero of the story, the blind men and the amount of their faith. Let us not do that too quickly because you strip God of his glory and the whole point of this text.
And he touched their eyes saying, "According to your faith, be it done to you." And their eyes were open. And Jesus sternly warned them, "See that no one knows about it." Huh?
But they went away and they did the opposite. They spread his fame throughout all that district. As they were going away, behold, a demon oppressed man. Can I just stop and say, it doesn't say anywhere in this story that he took away their blindness because they dis he they disobeyed him post the healing. Because the healing was given in mercy, not because of their works.
I don't know. There's just too much here, guys. I just too much here. As they were going away, behold, a demon oppressed man who was mute was brought to him. And when the demon had been cast out, the mute man spoke, and the crowds marveled, saying, "Never was anything like this seen in all of Israel." But the Pharisees said, "he cast out demons by the practice of demons.
Unbelievable. Religious people, churchy people, man.
A movement of God can stand right in our midst and we miss it."
Pastor Shawn Gray · 6:05
It is amazing.
I titled this sermon, "do you believe that I'm able? Let me just start this out by saying there are many people here today and in this room and maybe that will listen back to this post that you would stand in confidence and say, "I do believe that God is able." The question is not is God able to do it for them.
The question is God, do you believe that God is able to do it for you? Oh, see, things change when you begin to consider yourself in the equation. Now, let's just talk about this. And I think particularly what I believe that this is attached to. Now, this is not necessarily although physical healing is happening here, although blind eyes are being made open here, although the mute tongue is being released here, the point of this is not your physical healing.
The point of this is a salvific healing. Now you need to understand that the point of the physical healing is to demonstrate that the Messiah prophesied about that would one day save us spiritually is standing in our presence.
And the pro and the proof that he is the one who will one day save us spiritually is that the fulfillment of the prophecy that he makes blind eyes see and he makes mute tongues speak and he has authority over the demonic realm. Now we have seen him piece by piece from creation to dead people coming back to life to diseased people being made well and now blind people being you see and mute people be able to speak. We are seeing the prophetic fulfillment in shoe leather.
He is the Messiah and there is a salvation that's coming beyond the flesh that is eternal. That's what is being spoken about here.
And this is good news. So, do you believe that God is able to save you to that end? Or do you believe that you've gone too far, done too much, sinned too much? It's amazing how many people I talk to that say, "of course, God can heal them." But when it comes to me, I'm not certain he's able.
I came here today to tell you he's able. You haven't gone too far. You haven't done too much. You haven't sinned too much. He's still able.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 8:50
It's a good question and true faith understands this about him. So I want to talk about that a little bit. Do you believe that he's able to save you? One of the I think one of the most probleming thing problem the problematic things in our world today what I think would be very troubling is to be blind.
I mean not we're not just talking about a spiritual blindness, a physical blindness. That would be awful. I would not enjoy that in the slightest. I cannot there's probably many more terrible conditions you could experience, but blindness would ranks up there for me. It just does.
And the Scripture teach that fallen man is spiritually blind as well. Now, there is a physical blindness we're reading about in this story, but it is speaking of a spiritual blindness. It is. And it is really interesting because you see this dichotomy that exists in the text, right? You have the physically blind and at the same time you have the religious leaders of the day which are spiritually blind but the physically blind can't see physically but they can see spiritually.
They know he's the Messiah. They have come to him feeling their way to him. They can't see physically but they can see spiritually. They have the eyes to see. And then over here the religious leaders of the day can't see physically but they I mean they can see physically but they can't see spiritually. So then there is this really interesting dichotomy that exists regardless of that whether physical or especially spiritually this is what I would see is one of the greatest tragedies of our day. Now, in the day, specifically in this day that we're reading about in the text, blindness was rampant.
And blindness was rampant for several different reasons. One of which were poverty, just poor conditions, just unhealthy, unclean conditions. And because of that, a lot of people, guys, a lot of people in this day, a lot of people were blind. In our generation today, we have a lot of advances in science that allow us to not have to deal with some of the ail things that ailed them back in the day.
Let me give you an example. You remember the text in Scripture that where the apostle asked Jesus, "who sinned that this man should be born blind?" You know where that comes from, right? Well, if you don't, I'm going to help you. In that day, what would happen is if sexual transmitted diseases were pretty common in the day and that became worse because of the unclean conditions.
And so what would happen is if a woman would have a sexually transmitted disease and she would give birth to a baby, that baby within three days would go blind. This is why today whenever a child is give a woman gives birth to a child they put drops antibiotic drops in their eyes for several days to prevent blindness.
It's what they do. It's a common practice today. So when the disciple is asking who sinned that this child was born blind is speaking to the condition that was very common in the day. What kind of sin or behavior or disease caused this? Are you with me today?
So now we have a blindness that's caused and past many people and it comes from track with me poverty. Now, poor conditions, poor behavior. Now, this is really important. I really think it's pertinent to the text because we don't come to God because of a povertystricken condition.
Here, these blind men come because they have no one else to go to. We've found ways and solutions to get around those things that blind us. But
There is a spiritual blindness that no antibiotic drop can help.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 13:57
It says in the Scripture that all of you are born spiritually blind. And the only way you're going to get your healing is through the son of David. Amen.
That's the only way you're getting your healing. So, every single one of you need to understand you come to him as a beggar in poverty. One in poverty crying for mercy.
I believe this is what makes the passage so sobering. Two physically blind men see something in Christ that religious leaders cannot see.
A mute man is given the ability to speak. While men who already possess speech use their tongues to blaspheme the God who stands before them. The blind men cry for mercy. The crowds marvel and the Pharisees accuse. It is fascinating story and
Everyone in the passage encounters the same Christ but they do not respond to him in the same way.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 15:13
They do not. And can I just say this happens in church every Sunday. Amen. Now, I think that you might think that because you came here this morning and you got your coffee, you sat down, and you sang a couple worship songs that this that everybody in here that did that with you is going to respond to him like the blind men. But I came to say that's not true.
Well, but so and so has been here for 20 years. These religious leaders had been playing that game longer. Sacrificing more than you. Obeying better than you. Living better moral lives than you.
And they were an accuser of the brethren. Fascinating, isn't it? How you can feel so justified and the reason you feel justified in your behavior as an advocate for the Lord you're denying is because you're blind.
How can you know that you're blind when you're blind?
Pastor Shawn Gray · 16:36
The great question of this text is not merely whether Jesus has the power to open blind eyes. Of course he does. The question is whether you believe that he's able to do what you cannot do for yourself. Four quick points and we'll bust dodge.
Point 1True faith cries out for mercy
Number one, true faith cries out for mercy, the mercy of Christ.
Jesus passed on from there. Two blind men followed him. Cried aloud, "have mercy." Now, this word to cry aloud, is the same cry aloud in a preceding verse that we saw recently where they chained up men in a graveyard because they screamed and cut themselves and they were crazy. It's the exact same word. It is an unintelligible cry of despair.
This is not an intellectual ascent. This cry, it is one of total desperation.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 17:58
Notice the connection here. Yeah, I'm good in every part of my life except for I have this one little problem that is a hiccup, a speed bump if you will, but most of my life is awesome. If you want to do something with it, God, that'd be great. If not, I can still, you know, live my life and be pretty happy. That's not what's happening here. Right. Yeah.
Notice the connection moves it back to people who were put out and away from community, out and away from everybody who were destructive not only to themselves but to everybody else. And they had no hope.
How do you see yourself like a person who's good and got it together mostly?
If God wants to throw you a bone here or there, awesome. But I got things worked out pretty good. Or do you cry out from within like the people in the graveyard?
Is that your cry or is this your cry? The blind men had the same cry. But do us religious people have the same cry of desperation, of needing mercy, coming to him as a beggar, as one in poverty, as one who cannot save themselves, as one who doesn't see a little infirmity, as a hiccup, but a complete disruption of what God intended for our lives.
Well, I have a bad attitude sometimes. If you need saving, I we were Let me just say this real quick. Please don't judge me.
We had next day and we went to the lake and we're hanging out on the boat. I actually I was YouTubing for like two hours before the boat ride just to make sure I didn't make an idiot of myself on how to drive a boat. I can't believe I just said that. And I was like, "Okay, you trim and you what you trim up. What does it mean if you trim up? What do you mean you trim down?
What do you and forwards go?" You know, and so I got it all figured out and then they trimmed it for me. I said, "Don't touch the trim. Forward go backwards back." You know, I was like, "I didn't even need to do a YouTube video." And then I we went out, went around, we came back, and I was like, "Lord, help the wind to not blow in this place because when you have to go as slow as you do in a no wake zone, the boat just does what it wants." And I was like, I don't want to park this like some people parallel park in their driver's test because that would be embarrassing.
There's like eight people on this boat with me. And so I get there and you should see me. The back end's floating away and the front end's floating away. And they said reverse do this. And it looked like it was awesome. And I don't know that some of them heard it because they were like, "Pastor Sean is the man." And I was like, "they told me how to do it. Did you not hear that?" And I'm okay that they didn't because I'll be the man. I'll be the man.
We were out on the boat. We were having conversation. Sorry, that was I digress. That was something totally different. But I hope I can remember what I was talking about. We were out on the boat and we were talking about if we were to kill someone. Sorry, I know it's just got really weird. I'm sorry. How might we go of disposing the body? Sorry, I promise we talk about the Lord and such, too.
Good Lord, just I love the Lord. I love the Lord. I'm saved. Okay. So, just track with me how we were talking about disposing the body and some people were like, I bury him in concrete and throw him in this lake, you know. And so, and it was and then Isaac goes, I don't know why we're talking about this. I wouldn't kill anybody. I could I couldn't live with myself. And I was like, just play along for three seconds. You and so and I said, if you've ever talked bad about somebody, you've already killed them in your heart anyway. That's what Scripture says. So, we could talk about the other anyway.
But I think that's the point, isn't it? Because we classify people in, okay, are you somebody who actually killed somebody, put them in concrete and threw them in the river. Now, those people, they need to cry out and need mercy, but I, you know, I talk about people over coffee negatively, and I have no problem with that. See, that is my life is good. I got a little speed bump, but it's not that big a deal. I don't need to cry out like that person needs to cry out.
But you know that
You can reject spiritual healing because you don't think you need mercy like that person.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 23:29
That makes you like the religious leaders of the day, doesn't it? Just like them.
This is why this is why I have a particular disdain and a hatred towards people in the church trying to make other people feel awesome about how awesome they are. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it because you are cutting people off from the one thing that causes them to bow down and cry. This kind of cry because they will trust in their awesomeness and not in his.
I hate it. Makes us a killer, an accessory to the kind of crime that's eternal. And it is not acceptable, nor is it the gospel. Okay, calm down, bro.
The greatest obstacle to salvation is not that Christ is unwilling to save sinners. The greatest obstacle is that sinners are unwilling to confess how desperately they need to be saved.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 24:55
That's the problem.
The cry of true faith is not, "Lord, reward me."
If you ever get in a place where everything's going sideways and you have ever thought or prayed or considered or said to other people, "Doesn't God know I've been faithful all these years?" That is the wrong cry.
That is the wrong cry. And that's when we begin to change our prayer from don't you know to Lord search me and help me see if there's any wicked way in me so that I can pray the right prayer.
Oh, he'll search you all right if you pray that prayer. It will not be a fun it will not be a fun ride. He will find it. He will show it and he will help a brother pray properly.
Point 2True faith rests in the ability of Christ
Number two, true faith, true faith rests in the ability of Christ.
There is so much teaching about faith that is unbiblical today. Lord, help us. Lord, help us. I'm I you and if you think that doesn't affect you got another thing coming, man.
When we read this, if you didn't walk away and say, "Let it be done to you according to your faith." Man, my faith just needs to be better.
If you didn't have to wrestle with that, you might be dead in our culture. Because we live in a culture that puts the emphasis on what you do and not on who he is. We live in a culture of acquisition. How might I acquire a thing? We position and leverage and finigle our lives to acquire what our heart desires.
It. You try to do that with the Lord and see what happens.
You don't acquire with him.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 27:28
You don't position yourself to get. You fall down and cry for mercy. The passage continues, "when he enters the house, the blind man came to him. And Jesus said to them, do you believe that I'm able to do this?" They said, "Yes, Lord." Jesus did not immediately answer them on the road. Rude. He let him sit with it a little bit.
You see, some of you want an answer immediately. You want him to move immediately. He's teaching you in silence. He's testing you with silence. Some of you think the problem is your hearing. It's not the problem. He allowed them to follow him into the house.
Their persistence did not even did not earn the miracle. Their persistence did not earn the miracle, but it revealed the earnestness of their desire.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 28:29
Then Jesus asked them a direct question. Do you believe that I'm able to do this? Notice what Jesus did not ask. Okay? He did not ask. Do you believe strongly enough? He did not ask, "have you lived well enough?" He did not ask, "do you possess enough religious knowledge enough theological words?" He asked, "do you believe that I'm able?" And notice that all the emphasis goes on what he is, who he is, what he can do, what he knows.
The focus was not upon the greatness of their faith, contrary to what people tell you. The focus was upon the greatness of Christ.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 29:31
Yes. Amen. Nothing troubles me more than when people began to talk about how they prayed for something, believed for something, and made something happen.
Because of their faith. I think when people do that, they get this Scripture wrong. They misinterpret it completely. And honestly, it's very easy to do that. Can I get an amen? Let's not act like it's only the people over there and you're like the people over there, right? So all of us have a tendency to feel this at some point in our life. We pray, we have faith that God is able. He does it. Then when we tell the story, we only talk about how much we prayed and had faith. We say very little about Jesus. We just throw him on the end as a caveat so that we don't have to be guilty of not giving him some kind of glory. At least one percentage of the whole thing where I've been bragging about myself and how awesome I am. For my prayer. You should thank me.
Matter of fact, bow down before me because I prayed for you to get delivered.
Who's the savior? Your prayer or the Jesus in the room?
Pastor Shawn Gray · 30:56
Too much. Y'all staring at me like I Y'all staring like a deer when a light comes around the corner and they're like, "I love you." You understand what I'm saying? We're all guilty of this.
You know why I'm saying this? Because I don't think we want to do this. You should get sobered up a bit about the fact that we do this.
Brooke, will you come up here for a second? She kind of has a lovehate relationship with me doing this. So, yeah. Happy birthday. You get to do what you don't like doing. The Bible says that faith is a gift. That's what it says. It says that God gives faith. And the measure of it, here's a measure. I know for a fact this is 12.5 ounces because if I do more than that, it overflows and I have to get another cup.
When I use a curig, it's a measure. It's a measure of faith. How many of you have ever went to a I'm almost done. You just stand there and look pretty like you are. How many of you have ever gone to a restaurant and got a small cup of water and had your quench satisfied? Nobody. You never get a small cup and you're like, "Now everything is mega size. That's all I get now." How many of you can get satisfied with a mega cup just as easily as you can a small cup because the fountain is unlimited? Can I just say the measure don't matter?
That's why he says faith which is a gift, faith which is a measure, you only need a mustard seeds amount. If I had a mustard seed thimble, I could have my thirst quenched in a desert. That help? I'm going to gift you faith. You are now officially for the benefit and the of this story. You are thirsty. Huh? Thirsty. Satisfy your thirst.
Okay. Is there anything in there? Yeah. No. Because I drank it all. Yeah. Nothing in there. So, are you satisfied? No, I was lying. She was lying. It's all right. We'll pray for you. You can cry out and come to him in mercy and he'll deliver you. Anyway, No. It's okay. But there's nothing in there, right? I did. Yeah. Sorry. Nothing in there. So, she's not satisfied, but she has faith.
So why when we go to small group do we say focus on the importance of this without the water to quench.
The only benefit of this is it can draw from a source that satisfies and she can't even take credit for that because who gave it? Who gave it? I did. Is it hers? Yes. It's hers. Does she need to draw? Where do a lot of where have you ever been guilty? Oh, wait. Yes. Have you ever been guilt? Yes. Have you ever been guilty of drawing from somewhere else other than the source that quenches? Absolutely.
Did you know you can do faith to draw from the wrong source? All right, that's good. Thank you. You're awesome. That's what we're seeing here. That's what we're seeing.
Faith is like a bucket lowered into a well. The bucket does not create water.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 35:34
The bucket possesses no power to satisfy thirst in and of itself. What good is a bucket if there is nothing in the well to draw?
So you have a large bucket. So you have a small bucket. So you have different measures. So you have a beautiful bucket. So your bucket's polished and golden. So you admire the bucket and you speak comfortly about your bucket. But if the well is dry, the bucket will return empty and it means nothing what kind of bucket you got. Are you with me today?
It is very important that you understand that the emphasis here in the text is not about the bucket. It's about the source of life, the well of all wells, the wellspring of life standing in the room.
That's the character.
True faith knows that it's not the source, but it draws from it.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 36:52
Oh, man.
Point 3True faith receives what only Christ can give
Amen. Number three, true faith receives what only go Christ can give. Then they touched their eyes. Then he touched their eyes, saying, "According to your faith, it's been done to you." And their eyes were open. Their eyes were opened.
I mean, this is really that simple. Mark records it with extreme simplicity. There was no ceremony. There was no struggle. There was no uncertainty. Jesus simply touched their eyes, spoke a word, and darkness gave way to sight. The eyes that no human power could open were opened by a touch from Christ. And this is the authority of Jesus.
He does not merely offer advice to blind men. He gives sight.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 37:56
Does not merely encourage people. He exercises authority over the condition that holds them captive. This physical miracle points us towards the greater spiritual work of salvation. Every sinner is born spiritually blind. Paul writes that the God of this world has blinded the minds of unbelievers so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ.
Fallen man does not merely need more religious information. Amen. He needs is a supernatural work of grace. He needs God to shine light into his heart. Preaching will never open blind eyes through eloquence.
Music cannot open blind eyes through emotional power. It can make you feel a lot.
How many of you know you can be blind and stay blind and still feel?
Pastor Shawn Gray · 39:12
What are you chasing? Feelings. Have you substituted true encounters for feelings?
This should humble every preacher, every parent, every missionary, every believer who longs for the salvation of others. We cannot regenerate a single soul. Well, Sean, but you don't know. I went to a conference and they had evangelism 101 and I learned exactly how to do it. And so now when I tell the Gospel to people, they will be converted. Okay?
Because of you. Should we worship you? Are you with me today?
It would be a shame to worship someone else in the room when Jesus is there.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 40:19
It'd be a shame. We must preach Christ and not self. Amazing because all the apostles came to testify of Christ, not themsel. Who do you give testimony of around dinner time? Oh Lord, help me on this one. Feeling a little convicted? You feeling convicted? I am.
Then Matthew tells us that Jesus sternly warned them not to spread the news. But they went throughout the district and spoke about him. Their disobedience should not be overlooked. Their enthusiasm did not justify ignoring the command of Christ. Jesus is Lord and even joyful zeal must remain under his authority. And the fact that it didn't is a shame.
But some of you can understand this behavior, delivery from an impossible condition and the denial of him with your life.
Immediately after you come, you have an encounter with Christ. He moves mightily. He convicts your heart. He moves in a in A in a dispos in a position of to comfort and to show compassion. He loves, he redeems, he renews, he instills peace in your heart and you go out on Monday and you deny him with your life. It's a good thing that his mercy is not dependent on your obedience.
Yeah. But because he's a God who's merciful. Okay, listen. See, I think we let the mercy part of this thing get lost on us because we think we deserve something.
But everybody in here has everybody in here who's a believer who has encountered his life-saving touch and encountered him personally and have been delivered and he's shown mercy to us have denied him with our lives 100%.
It's a good thing his mercy is not dependent on your obedience.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 42:33
And that's what we should celebrate about his mercy today. So let us not then get this convoluted and make this about the amount of an individual's faith because they had faith enough to believe yet rebellion in their heart enough to disobey.
That doesn't make them so special, does it? Does it? We see that when a person has truly encountered the power of Christ, silence becomes difficult. These men had lived in darkness and now they could see the first face they may have seen was the face of the one who healed them. How could they think of anything else?
Point 4True faith sees the glory unbelief rejects
Number four, in this final one, true faith sees the glory that unbelief rejects.
As the formerly blind men were leaving, another man was brought to Jesus. Matthew writes this, "A demon oppressed man who was mute was brought to him. And when the demon had been cast out, the mute man spoke."
Once again, Christ does what no man can do. The demon is cast out and the man speaks. And then the crowd responds with amazement. And they say this, "Never was anything like this seen in all of Israel." The crowds recognize that something extraordinary is actually taking place in their midst.
The works of Christ are unlike anything they have ever witnessed. But the Pharisees, they respond differently. These are the churchgoers like some of you today. He cast out demons by prince of demons.
This is one of the most frightening statements in the passage. The Pharisees did not deny the miracle had occurred. They could not deny the evidence standing before them. The blind could see. The mute could speak. The oppressed had been delivered. And
Since they could not deny the power, they attacked the source of the power.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 45:01
You see the contrast?
They attribute the work of the Holy Spirit to Satan. Two blind men call Jesus the son of David, a messiah. The religious leaders call him a servant of the devil. The blind men see. The Pharisees remain blind. The mute men speak. The Pharisees use their speech to blaspheme.
This reveals the depth of human pra depravity. Man is not neutral towards God. He is moving towards him or veheminently away from him.
He does not simply need more evidence. Unless grace intervenes, man will twist the clearest evidence in order to avoid submitting to Christ.
Religion without regeneration can bring a man close to the things of God.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 46:01
It can get them in the room while leaving their heart filled with hatred towards the God they worship in form but not in heart. Young people, you're at great danger. Those of you who grew up in the church, you know what to say. You grew up being taught what to say.
You know when to bow, when to stand, when to raise your hand, when to worship, when to pray. But do you know who you're praying to? Do you believe you need mercy? Are you with me today? And it's not just the young people. It's not.
We have a problem today in American culture because 1% of young people today, the age of this row here, understand biblically who Jesus is. 1% of professing believers in America.
The rest of them are totally they have an unbiblical worldly view of God.
It's a problem. It's rampant in our society.
We don't think we need his mercy. We think we're good enough as we are.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 47:41
The crowd said, "Never was anything like this seen in Israel." That's true. But amazement is not the same as repentance. Don't let that be lost on you. We had a I won't even name stuff. We've had lots of conferences come through Kansas City because everybody's everybody's hoping for a revival that some man said would come in Kansas City area when the Chiefs won the Super Bowl.
So, we've had one conference after another to try to shove a revival into Kansas City. Are you with me?
But track with me here. Track with me. Amazement is not the same as repentance. Oh, but you didn't see the you didn't see the you didn't see you didn't see the stadium. It was crazy. People worshiping and falling down. None of that impresses me. Or am I just am I commoginly tracking me here? None of it. Show me show me how much you need mercy.
Not how much you're feeling in a moment, but are you in poverty for God because he's the only source of quenching your thirst? Jesus is not seeking admirers.
