The message
one who receives a righteous person because he is one. What is he saying here? And I'm I need to get through the Scripture and then I'll preach. But what is he saying here that's so instrumental that we read over probably over and over again and didn't even catch it. What is he saying? There are prophets who are prophets and there are false prophets.
There are righteous people who are truly righteous according to God. And there are people who are self-righteous and they are not they do not walk with a godly righteousness. And we should then be able to distinguish the assumption here in Scripture as Jesus speaks to us is that the assumption that he puts out there is you should be able to distinguish the difference between a person who's a true prophet and a person who is a true righteous person.
Amen. A person who speaks for God and a person who does not speak for God. You should be able to discern the difference. And
Your reward is based on your discernment. You lack discernment, you lack reward.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 3:07
Since we're were kind of motivated by reward today in our culture, I thought I'd throw that out there. Your rewards attached to your ability to discern. And this becomes problematic then in our society particularly here in our culture because we have we are discernment adverse.
Somebody uses some flowery biblical language. They quote a Scripture. We will take we will take ideologies of Satan and we will adopt them as if they are gods right inside the walls of the church. It's a concern. It's a concern. And the one who sees a righteous person because he is a righteous person will receive a righteous person's reward. And then he just kind of moves this thing on down. And whoever gives one of these little ones, who's who's the little ones? Any disciple, even a cup of cold water, because he is a disciple.
Truly I say to you, he will be he will by no means lose his reward. He will by no means lose his reward. Lord, help us this morning as we try to break down this text. In your name we pray. Amen.
I think there is as much as there is a command to receive those who are sent by God to receive the messenger. And when you receive the messenger, how you receive the messenger is indicative of how you receive Christ. Okay? I would like to have Jesus pop over to my house, knock the door, ring the doorbell. I would like to be able to open the door, have him in, make him the guest of my house, sit him at the seat of honor, and feed him dinner today.
I would like that. I would pref I would prefer to know he's coming that way I can make the dinner because I have no dinner made at this point. There's there's nothing in the crockpot. There's nothing being prepared. I would love to do that. And this text tells you that how you receive his messengers is how you receive him.
Your greatest form of hospitality to Christ is to one another.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 5:33
Amen.
You know, how would you clamor? How would you clamor if Christ walked into the building today? How might you talk to him, run to him, be eager to visit with him? How might you how might you what would you share with him? The way you engage one another today when the ser service is closed in the foyer, in this room, in the parking lot, the way you engage one another, the way you receive one another is how you receive him.
That's great. That's great. So, that kind of like puts things in perspective a little bit because I don't think we do so great all the time of receiving each other. Well, but notice what's attached to it.
Notice what's attached to it. There is a it is professing the word. So, what are we receiving? The message. When we receive the message, there is a message that's to be told. When we receive the message, we receive the reward. There's a there's a there's a message of a spoken message. There's a spoken message. I could come to Kirk and I could speak to him about the gospel. I could talk to him and quote Scripture and if I rightly divide that, he discerns that and he receives that properly. There's a reward attached to that reception.
The power is not in the messenger. It is in the message.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 7:24
Right? So there is a verbal message that's spoken by a prophet and then there is a life message lived by a man. Are you with me? The message is similar. So it isn't just the profession of your mouth that speaks a declarative statement. It is the steps of your life that speak a declarative statement.
And it's tricky because someone can look like they're living righteously, then later stand before the Lord and the Lord go and they say,"Lord, don't you know I did all these righteous deeds in your name? I prophesied in your name. I healed in your name. I raised the dead in your name. I was a goody tushu in your name." And he said, "Get beh I don't know you. I don't know you.
So
There's a righteousness that's not righteous. There is a life that's not dedicated to him. There is a disciple that's not a true disciple.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 8:24
And so it is our responsibility to discern the difference because we are standing in a position and today let me just say this and I've said it over and over again and I don't stand alone in this assumption. Bara and many other case studies have been done to recognize the fact that sitting right this is right inside the walls of our church people we are the most biblically illiterate generation the world has ever known ever in the history of the world and you know what that study you know what the evaluation of that study is Christians we don't know. We have no biblical knowledge. We can't discern because we don't know.
And the Scriptures we quote improperly. The vocabulary we use, there's a perversion to it. Satan quoted Scripture wrong. Right. But he quoted it. Yeah. Be careful to not bow down to that message. Right. Because there's a reward to bowing down to that message and it ain't so good. It ain't so good. Be careful whom you welcome. That warning may initially sound contrary to the spirit of this passage, but it is not contrary. I think it's paramount.
All of our energy goes to receiving pastors, receiving apostles, receiving prophets, receiving people who mean well in the church. How we receive them. So, we should just mindlessly receive them. No, that's not what it's saying. And Jesus speaks about receiving the prophet, receiving the righteous person, and giving a cup of water to a disciple. And it seems as if we should live our life with an open door policy here.
But
The reward is not attached to receiving anyone. It is attached to receiving the one who genuinely belongs to Christ and faithfully represents him.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 10:43
Jesus is not commanding the indiscriminate reception of every person who claims to speak for God because we have a problem today if we do that because we live in a fame culture and we will follow anybody and adopt any ideology because somebody has a following. There are people who fill conferences and fill stadiums who are not preaching truth.
Be careful little ears what you listen to. You have to have discernment. There are prophets and there are false prophets. There are righteous people and there are people who merely appear righteous. There are true disciples and there are false disciples.
And listen to me and I'll say this as plainly as possible.
The true and the false use the same vocabulary.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 11:50
That's good. They quote the same Scriptures. Both carry Bibles.
Both may speak about Jesus. Both talk about freedom and healing and righteousness and deliverance and spiritual transformation. And both will be will claim to be sent by God with a message to free you from your misery.
And the difference is not always immediately visible. Amen. It's hard to discern. Sometimes that is why Jesus does not call us to be gullible. He calls us to discernment.
Christian love does not welcome error as though it were truth. Christian hospitality does not support a teacher who undermines the gospel.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 12:57
Amen. Christian humility does not require us to s to suspend our judgment whenever someone claims to speak for God.
But there's another danger. Here it is. Track with me. Because I tend to lean towards pessimistic pendulum swing. I will question everyone. Everyone should be questioned. And although that has its place, it becomes dangerous because it's hard to be receptive of a message when you're pessimistic of all of them. That's right. Oh, come on now. Okay. Discernment can become suspicion.
We can become so afraid of being deceived that we refuse to receive anyone.
We can test every preacher except the ones who tell us what we already believe.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 14:03
We can use discernment as an excuse for pride and isolation and arrogance and disobedience. But Jesus protects from both errors. He calls us to discernment. He calls us to discernment and he calls us to reception.
It is both living in harmony with one another. Notice he does not swing the pendulum too far to the left where a magnet exists so it can stick there. He says stay in the middle between these two.
Use discernment. Apply it rightfully. Be receptive. But don't be receptive without discernment. There is a place in the middle we should exist. Jesus protects us from both errors.
We must not receive the false merely because they use his name. And we must not reject the true because they are unimpressive, unknown, weak, and don't fill stadiums.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 15:03
The entire question returns us to the beginning of the Bible. Let me tell you, the first attack upon humanity was an attack on his word.
And it's it's the same method, different tactic today. Track with me here. He wants he Satan comes to Adam and Eve in the garden right off the kick, right off the get-go.
And he tries to get them to be dissatisfied with what he's provided. God has spoken. God has said, God has given. God has restricted. But you know what? I accept all that, but I need a little more. That's what he wants. He wants you to be okay with his word. That's what Satan wants. Be okay with his word. But do you know that you could have a little more knowledge like God if you would just do you know that what he's given you, what he's spoken is insufficient?
What he's provided is insufficient? There's something more. Come on, just listen to me today. That's the same battle today. The greatest attack on the church today is us thinking and is it is Satan trying to help us get to a place where we think that this is insufficient for all of life's problems. Amen.
I like this. I quote this. I have t-shirts with some of this on it. I like it. I love hearing it preached. I'm down for some word. I read it and it's sufficient in a lot of places in my life. But when it comes to this problem or that problem, I need this plus something else. That's that's that's it's the it's Satan's same game.
It's been his same game since the beginning. Amen. He wants you to believe this is insufficient. You need more to help you with life's problems. Amen. You need science. He's God.
None of that exists without him. I need Jesus plus this for my problem to go away. You talk to Paul about that. He had a thorn in the flesh. He had a thorn in the flesh that God didn't take away. See, sometimes your problem ain't supposed to go away.
And let me tell you, it does not belittle the sufficiency of his word because you still have a thorn, A sickness, an issue, a sadness, a hurt, a problem. Sometimes that problem provides for you, humility where if that problem was removed, pride would erupt and destroy your life.
Sometimes you are praying for something to be removed that God is using to sanctify and make you holy.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 18:48
Sometimes he leaves the problem. And let me tell you can be at peace even with the problem. Yes. Amen. That's the message of the gospel. That the greatest delivery is from death to life, right? Not every thorn that may prick you in this life. See, when you make freedom paramount and you assign to that freedom something beyond eternal life and you move it to your world today and you say, "I must be free today.
God has promised it. I promise he has not. He has not. That is a word spoken over your life that is a perversion of truth that you should reject. Use discernment today. Use discernment today. He never promised it. G S Satan comes and say, "Well, but did God actually say he questioned the content of God's word? He contradicted the warning of God's word. He attacked the character behind God's word. And then he suggested that God's word was keeping Adam and Eve from something necessary for their happiness." See, that's the problem today. That's why we don't think this is sufficient because we want to be happy and Satan will try to make you happy. You're right.
He will. He'll offer happiness. I'm going to show you something. I've been trying to figure out how to make this merge in my sermon real good and it just don't merge real good. But I think it makes sense. I think it makes sense. I don't know how to make it merge. I couldn't figure out how to write it. And I tried and I was like, I quit. I'll just say it and then they can figure it out.
The greatest attack today, right, it's it's happening inside the walls of the church is sufficiency of Christ. If you go back to the Reformation, we're talking late 1500s, early 1600s, the Reformation happened. You know, Martin Luther put his thesis on the door. He nailed it there and he said there's something wrong with the way we're interpreting Scripture and a reformation and God's word is for all people and you put the reformation on the door and from them you have the Puritans that rose up, you have the reformers that rose up and right at the tail end of the reformation when we're when we're all returning to God's word and priority advertising his word and receiving it as it is spoken. Right at the tail end of that begins to erupt.
The first step and I they'll put the list up there. You can snatch a picture. I'm not going to talk about each of these because I don't have time. I would like to do a seminar on this as part of my part of my writing in school is evaluating this. So I'm just going to do a broad stroke. I don't have time to give you 150 pages worth of content on what I'm writing. But I just want you to understand something. These movements are movements that attack directly the sufficiency of Scripture.
If you go to the very top, the Enlightenment is this. It was a direct rebuttal against the Reformation. Now, they wouldn't say that, but let me tell you what it what the rebuttal was. We need something more than blind faith. We need to apply our minds and be enlightened, not just believe stuff with our hearts. Sounds good, sounds efficacious, sounds beneficial.
But it began to pull people away from truth. It began to say, "Faith alone can't save. You need to think and you do need to think. This is what's so dangerous about it. It isn't that you don't need to apply your mind. Can I get an amen? You should seek out Scriptures like the Bereans do. Yes.
You should think about a thing, but you should not substitute it for faith.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 23:27
Are you tracking with me here?
So every movement that goes that every movement that's happened in society is not satisfied until you replace Scripture. And the way you get to replacement is Scripture plus an ideology. You know what? Guess what? Here's what I'm trying to do. That movement proved to not accomplish what they thought it would. That's why a movement's got to become another movement. The reason another movement erupts is because what it promised it didn't it didn't deliver.
If you just will think high enough, your life will be transformed and you'll be freed from all of life's misery. I'm going to set you free. Think higher.
But then they realize, you know what? Thinking higher is missing something and I'm still not free. They promised I'd be free. They promised I'd be delivered. They promised I wouldn't have hurts. They promised I wouldn't have heartaches. They promised all of that. They promised it. So then the next movement comes in to provide a solution that enlightenment didn't provide. You know what it was? The romantic period.
Is that up there? Yes. Romanticism. Romanticism says it's not bad to think, but thinking without feeling an emotion is a problem because it doesn't it doesn't truly heal the soul.
All this sounds good. It all sounds good. But this is the answer. Yes. Amen. Not you feeling deeply enough. Not you thinking higher enough. Let me tell you. Let me tell you. Thinking and feeling didn't accomplish it. So they had to go to the next thing and the next thing. And look at this. Look at this. Just look at this if you will. It goes from enlightenment and moves down. And look how quick it gets into the church.
Just track with me here. You began to see ide and you can look it up. You can look it up and watch the ideologies adopting the ideologies of the movements before but changing it just a little bit so it seems like they're offering more same humanistic mindset prioritizing self over everything including God.
Positive thinking that sounds good. Negative thinking is thinking. Zig Ziggler. So never think negative. What do you do with the Psalms? Yo. Right. Amen.
But that sounds biblical. What about you know David? I just want to die. Just let me die. What about Elijah in the cave?
Well, we should never feel bad feels, Sean. Not if we're really set free. Where's that in Scripture?
Use discernment today. Otherwise,
You begin a pilgrimage chasing something that you will never find. And you become the you become the orchestrator of your own misery, chasing something that is only answered here.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 27:23
Oh, well, but Sean, my movement, see Sean, my movement has Christians at the head. My movement uses spiritual language, but my movement quotes Bible. My movement does this.
Jesus, Satan quotes Scriptures. Doesn't it say that if you throw yourself off here that he will give his angels to take charge and lift you up? And Jesus says he said that. But he also said, right, don't test the Lord. Oh, be Oh, what? What is that? What is that? What did he just do there? What did Jesus just do on the mount? He used discernment.
Good thing that Jesus didn't receive Satan as a prophet when he wasn't one just because he used the vocabulary of the church.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 28:30
Oh, come on now. That's what it's saying in here. I'm not preaching my own wants here. That's what it says. Receive a prophet that is one. How do we know if he is one? We know his word.
Look at the Barna study about how many of us read it inside the church. That'll give you a heart attack. That'll give you a heart. They'll give you a straight up heart attack. Discernment is not because we can't understand his word. It's because we don't read it. That's right. Amen. You're like, "Oh, no." Sean, the real problem is so many people have so many different ideas and so many interpretations. That's the real problem. We can't even get the church to agree about what it believes. That's the real problem. One person believes this and one person believes that, one person believes this and one person believes that. How are we supposed to know what truth is? How are we supposed to apply discernment if everybody has a different opinion?
The problem is not that they don't understand. I think the problem is they don't read it.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 29:35
And movements are created, track with me, movements are created after adopting ideologies that were given to them because they didn't do what the Bereans did and sought out a matter on their own. Chasing another movement to deliver me from something more than what God promised.
Oh man. All right. I know what time it is. Test the voice.
This going to be quick. Cuz that was the largest introduction known to man. Just don't panic. I got you. I got you. I know you're hungry. I got you. Just calm down. Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me, the one who receives a prophet because he is one will receive a prophet's reward. I wonder what kind of reward you receive when somebody's a false prophet.
I wonder what kind of torment you open your front door of your house to your spouse and to your children because you won't apply a little bit of discernment.
I wonder what kind of hell you make for yourself because you're receiving something you should reject.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 31:06
I wonder what kind of chase you go on because becau be and misery you suffer because you can't discern a matter.
The first person Jesus identifies as the prophet. Now a prophet is a spokesman. His significance does not lie in his personality, his appearance, his eloquence, his popularity, or his degrees. His significance lies in the message he's been commissioned to deliver. Now, can we just speak about the unfairness of the fact that God chose 12 apostles? He told them to go prophesy a thing, a matter, and you ain't them. And there ain't no pastor today that's them.
When a when an apostle rolls into your town, it's you can trust that thing. But can we just talk about the Bans for a moment? Because Paul came and he spoke to the Bereans and they knew he was an apostle and they knew how they should receive him. And they did receive him with eagerness, but they tested him with veracity.
Whose words? An apostles words. Track with me here. One who had been with Jesus, one who had seen Jesus healed, one who had seen Jesus risen, one who had seen him crucified, one who had broke bread with him and made fires with him and fish with him and were commissioned by Jesus himself in the flesh. And when they received him, they received him with eagerness to their to the pulpit of the house. But you know what they did to this apostle, to an eyewitness of Jesus?
You know what they did? They received him, but they questioned whether what he said was truly what God said.
And
If the Bereans questioned an actual apostle, how much more should you question what comes from this pulpit and test that matter?
Pastor Shawn Gray · 33:10
Oh, come on now. Is amazing to me. Today I will have people share videos with me, share content with me, and I'm thankful for it. Keep sharing.
Some of it's wonderful. Some of it I'm going, "what? This ain't biblical." Sounds biblical. But it's not. We must test the voices we hear. We must not simply adopt them because they use biblical vocabulary. The question is whether he handles the word truthfully. The Bereans provided the pattern. Listen, when Paul preached to them, they received the word eagerly, but they also examined the Scriptures rigorously to determine whether those things were true. Notice the balance. They were neither critical nor gullible. Amen.
This is the tricky part. I lean towards the critical. There are people who lean towards the gullible. Both are a problem. Track with me today. I'm I'm I'm bad Sean bad. Stop being so critical about everything. And some of you need to be bad me bad. Stop being so gullible about everything. It's both. They were eager and discerning.
I need to work on my eagerness. Some of you need to work on your discernment. Are you with me today? Track with me today. This should hit everyone in the house. I'm coming at all y'all. Not just some of y'all. I'm coming at me. His words coming at me. I don't like it when he does it.
They did not reject the message because it was unfamiliar. They did not accept the message because the preacher was powerful. They searched the Scriptures.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 35:26
If the apostolic preaching of Paul was examined by the Scriptures, no modern pastor, no modern counselor, no modern author, no modern prophet, no modern ministry leader should demand exemption from examination. And if they do, run. Run. A faithful messenger will welcome biblical examination. It doesn't mean they have to agree with everything you say, but they should welcome the examination.
He does not warn. He does not want people believing something merely because he said it. He wants them believing because God has spoken. Number two, I just got to move on. I got more to say about that. Do some soularching. Number two, trace the life. Trace the life attached to the speech. Trace it. Test it. Trace it. Later on, when the church is established, the Apostle Paul sends out workers into the field.
He establishes what is referred to as elders in the church. And then he says, "Don't just trust what they say. Evaluate their life. I don't establish people in positions to speak a matter about God's word unless their life lines up with what they preach." Track with me here. We need a life that lines up. Does that mean that every elder is perfect?
No. But it means that they are in hot pursuit of God. There is a list of requirements for an elder. Why is the requirement of righteousness, righteous living attached to the proclamation of his word?
Because
The evidence that his words are trustworthy is seen in a life that's trustworthy.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 37:27
Does that mean that everyone who looks righteous, you should just trust everything they say? No. Because he says there's people who can come as righteous people but not be righteous people.
So receive a righteous person. So what is it saying? Use discernment. Be hospitable. Be receptive. Receive them with eagerness, but also discern whether they're true. The Bible says there are some who bear fruit, but it's not real fruit. It looks shiny. It looks delicious, but when you pick it up out of the basket and you take a bite, it tastes like little bits of plastic.
Are you with me today? It ain't real. Their righteousness possessed an impressive exterior but lacked a transformed heart. That's what happened to the Pharisees. False righteousness like the Pharisees often undermines the sufficiency of Scripture by adding human requirements to God's word. Grace but plus you best live right or you ain't going to be saved. It creates standards God never created.
It binds conscience God has not bound and it measures spirituality by outward conformity.
One person says Scripture demands too much and must be softened. Another says Scripture does not demand enough and must be supplemented. Both place human judgment over the word of God.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 38:58
The righteous person does not claim sinless perfection. He is righteous because he has been clothed in the righteousness of Christ and is being transformed in the spirit of Christ. His life shows the fruit of a heart submitted to the word. His life is not perfect but it is pointed in a definitive de direction.
This person, a true righteous person, repents when he's confronted. He submits when Scripture corrects him. He forgives because he's been forgiven. He pursues holiness because he belongs to Christ. He does not merely affirm the veracity of Scripture. He lives as though he believes what he preaches. How do we recognize a righteous person? We trace the life.
Do not be captivated by a moment on a platform. Watch the direction of a person's life.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 40:09
Track with me here today.
This is problematic today. Track with me here. I'm trying to get done. Just please listen to me. Don't check out of me. I know I freaked you out and some of you are like, "Oh my goodness." Point one. And you're just trying to figure out if you want to stay engaged. Listen to me today. Listen. Please listen. I'm not sure that it's God intention for you to be paying attention to people who you can't track their life.
Oh man, that's probably one of the best things I've ever said in the history of Echo Church from the pulpit. I'm just telling you right now. And particularly in our culture, some of you want to chase people who have platforms so far away from you can't vet their life and you can't trace it. And this is the greatest danger of you not being able to apply discernment to the word that they speak. Now, this is not popular today.
I'm sorry. Won't be received well today from everybody in the house today because many of us are following people that we ain't we can't vet and trace their lifestyle. We're basing our whole journey in life based on people we can't trace their lifestyle. That's why the catchphrase to echo church went so the whole world may hear to echoing Jesus to our world because I realized something.
I'm not supposed to be a voice to the whole world. I'm supposed to be a voice to this one.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 41:47
I'm not a shepherd to all the sheep in the whole world. I'm a shepherd to these sheep.
Trace the light. Well, I'm doing it. I'm doing it. I what is the I looked at the reviews.
I looked at the reviews and I track and I got I read all the reviews about that person and they're all really good reviews. Oh wow. Oh wow, guys. They buy those. Many people buy those. P.S. They didn't say let other people trace the life and you believe what they say. They say you trace the life.
Maybe you shouldn't be following the voice of somebody that you don't do life with.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 42:53
Okay, moving on. That's just too personal. You're like, "Y'all, man, I don't like that. I don't like it." Number three, tend to the least of these.
So, I kept it in the three-word arena. Tend the least. But tend to the least of these. Okay. But so, you would remember it. 10 the least.
And whoever gives one of these little ones, can I say something here? One of the greatest failures in the church today. Well, I've said that a bunch today. One of the most diff something that's a problem today.
I'm a little demonstrative in my speech sometimes, but everything is paramount. Some of the greatest lessons you'll ever learn come from children playing around in your house. Yes. It's amazing. We'll go to small group or have a discussion, you know, deep theological profound conversation about stuff. Everybody's getting into debate about these theological quandry that we find ourselves in discussion.
Everybody's pontificating and waxing eloquently with their theological language. And then we come to youth group and we ask them the same question and they're like, "the Bible says, boom, done.
It's funny. You'll wrestle over something that a young person truth is truth. It's just truth. You can learn from them. Oh, come on now. Be careful to not hold back cups of water. Be careful to not receive a little one.
Not just age- wise, a new believer in faith. Only receive what the pastor says, but neglect your brother and sister who you're sharing coffee with. Because
Sometimes the greatest illumination of Scripture comes from those you rub shoulders with when you have coffee or dinner at Big Creek.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 45:03
Well, I have this issue in my life and you know, you know, can't be talking to all them normals out there.
I got to get a meeting with a pastor. Normals was a funny choice of word, right? But that's what he's saying. But some of you will attribute some as being A normal, not worthy of my time, not worthy of my efforts. And I could not receive anything from you. You can receive a reward from how you engage them.
Don't miss your reward. See, the reward was not just attached to the prophet and to the righteous man. It was attached to the little ones.
Those who are little in your mind are great to him.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 46:08
Sometimes you're praying for an answer to prayer and sometimes Bob shows up and you're like pass. I want Jesus to show up. But how you receive Bob?
When you receive Bob, who I sent as an answer to your prayer, you're actually receiving me.
Are you with me today? Oh man. Tend to the least. Blah. Blah. The end. I'll close with this.
Tend to the least by the word because Christ remembers every service offered to his own.
Pastor Shawn Gray · 47:08
So what are we supposed to do? Test the voice, trace the life, and tend to the least. Lord, we love you very much. We're thankful for your word, for the way that you speak to our hearts and to our lives. Lord, we're thankful for the command and we're thankful. We're thankful that you're calling us to use discernment.
We're thankful that you're intreating us to receive your word, but we're also thankful that you're telling us to be discerning of the word that we hear because the enemy's greatest tactic today right inside the walls of the church is to use vi biblical vocabulary. And it's not good enough anymore, nor has it ever been since the garden, but it's certainly not now. It is not good enough today to simply receive the word because it was quoted, but to be like the Bereans and seek out whether that word is true and use discernment of how it's being used.
In your precious and holy name we pray. Amen. All right. Well guys, there's just three things I need to highlight and I think I have all the information correct this week, unlike last week. So, Friday we have blood drive happening here. If that is something you would like to participate in, you can sign up through the newsletter. If you don't know what I'm talking about, there's probably information out in the lobby and there's going to be signs along the road and you can Google what is our which one are we?
Do we do the is it community blood center? Community blood center. Yes, community blood center. If you Google that, you can find the location. It's, you know, pretty convenient that it's right here. They'll have a bus out in the parking lot, but that is this Friday, the 28th. And then on the 29th, which is Saturday, in the morning, we have our men's breakfast at 7 o'clock. It's going to be great. They're going to be talking about oh something about the words on our lips.
I don't know. I think words are going to be involved. It's going to be great. That's the theme. And that's why I put two men talking because they're using their lips. Okay. All right. And then so that is Saturday morning. Saturday night. You can come back at six o'clock. They the we're having or hosting a Christian rock concert.
The band Whosoever will, featuring our very own Alex, the man over here in red. Wave, Alex. Yes, he's in the band. I don't know if you I'm assuming you play guitar and sing in that band, too. I don't really know. I'm excited. I've not been to a Christian rock concert in a minute. So, yeah, it's this is a great time to come. So, next Saturday night, come at six o'clock.
Show up, bring friends. It's going to be a good time. All right, small groups are happening. We're entering into chapter 11, new chapter. So, we'll see how that goes, guys. Make sure you're in a small group. Otherwise, you guys have a great week and we'll see you next Sunday.
Thanks for coming. Peace out.
